Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Information freshness and high energy efficiency are key requirements in wireless sensor and actuator networks (WSANs), where the sink needs to collect informative data with high energy-efficiency by the deadline in order to send a command message to the actuator. In order to solve this problem, this paper applies content-based wake-up (CoWu), which enables the sink to activate nodes based on the observed data. In this case, the timing of CoWu signal transmission plays an important role. Early transmission realizes high reliability of data collection by deadline, but it decreases the information freshness of nodes, while late transmission leads to higher freshness of collected data, but some nodes may not succeed in data transmission by deadline. This paper clarifies the trade-off observed through the timing variation of wake-up signal transmission. Furthermore, we clarify the gain of CoWu by comparing its performance with round-robin scheduling, in which the node transmits data in an order following the predetermined schedule. We also investigate the relationship between the characteristics of wake-up control and the speed of physical process. |
