Abstract(in English) | Next-generation access networks are expected to use high-frequency radio signals with high attenuation, requiring the installation of a high-density and large number of array antennas capable of beamforming. The optical beat method, which enables easy generation of high-frequency waves and remote phase control by interference between optical fiber radio and two light waves, is attracting attention as a low-power and simple way to configure such networks, but it is problematic in terms of compensation of wavelength dispersion and use of expensive wavelength-tunable light sources. In this study, we propose a new directivity control system that solves the above problems, in which the phase difference between two lightwaves used in the optical beat method is remotely and collectively controlled from the control station side by mutual phase modulation of a semiconductor optical amplifier installed at the antenna side, and report the verification results.
