Abstract(in English) | In an X-ray fee-electron laser (XFEL) or linear collider, an electron beam is compressed by a bunch compressor to attain sufficient beam luminosity. Then the bunch compression is known to be very sensitive to the energy distribution within the bunch and the external forces around the bunch compressor. When an electron bunch is traveling inside the beam tube of the bunch compressor, the motion of the electron bunch is affected by bending magnet dipole field, the space charge and wake fields. In particular, the wake fields may exhibit a negative influences on the beam dynamics of the bunch compressor due to the transverse reaction force on the electron beam in the curved section of the bunch compressor. In this study, the time-domain behaviors of the surface charge and current are analyzed using the time-domain boundary element method (TDBEM); further, approximated analytical expression of wake-field intensity is estimated using the results of the time-domain boundary element method for much shorter bunch. |
