Abstract(in English) Left-handed artificial media have different directions of phase velocity and group velocity, and are expected to be applied to microwave circuits. In this paper, we report the design of a 7λ/6 rat race coupler, which can be made smaller than conventional coupler, by incorporating three right-/left-handed composite transmission lines (CRLH-TL) into the coupler. This paper reports on the miniaturization of the rat race coupler and the achievement of the same bandwidth as that of conventional coupler.
