Abstract(in English) | The iris, the ring-shaped area between the pupil and the sclera of the eye, has a unique pattern that can be used to identify individuals based on their iris patterns. To improve the performance of iris recognition using Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), we propose a region-based method using CNN. In the proposed method, the iris is divided into four regions, and features are extracted from each region using CNN. The proposed method improves the recognition performance by selecting training data for each region, calculating a weighted matching score considering the iris region, introducing data augmentation suitable for iris images, and introducing an attention mechanism. We demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method through performance evaluation experiments using the public datasets of iris images. |
