KloudNFV: Declarative and Hierarchical Software-Defined Networking Platform using Kubernetes Extension

Abstract(in English) Many applications connect to cloud networks. it need to provide not only network isolation with multiple subnets, but also complex network functions such as Access Control, Traffic Mirror, and Site-to-Site VPN. The administrator needs to develop such services and maintain with robust operation, as well as respond quickly to new requirements by workloads evolve, but it is difficult to achieve both of these goals at the same time. We propose KloudNFV which is a method to apply the Kubernetes extension to the cloud network control plane, which enables both rapid evolution and high functionality. It applies Kubernetes' system architecture to Software-Defined Networking (SDN) systems, and has succeeded in developing cloud network services, 2 times faster, and has reduced the cost of scaling operation by 1/50th. It is a standard system design method to supports some high-requirement services in a production environment at LINE.
