Abstract(in English) | The purpose of the research is to develop a practical technology for high-speed network computing including terminal, edge, and cloud computing, which enables real-time editing and distribution of 8K ultra-high-definition videos. This paper reports on the implementation of uncompressed 8K high-definition video transcoding functions using edge devices. For edge devices that require high-speed processing, VVF (Virtualized Video handling Function) has been developed using a Data Plane Development Kit (DPDK) in a software-based framework. In addition, AVX-512, Intel's single instruction, multiple data parallel processing model, can be used for transcoding and color conversion. At Interop Tokyo 2022, a real-time uncompressed 8K video-processing experiment was conducted using edge devices connected to the SINET6 via 400 Gbps line, located at Sagamihara data center of the NII. By linking the multiple VVFs installed on the edge devices, five types of live 8K videos were be processed without degradation. At the venue, video switching and color conversion can be performed remotely, and videos before and after color conversion processing (24 and 48 Gbps, respectively) can be compared. |
