Abstract(in English) | As a preliminary verification to demonstrate multi-band WDM transmission beyond the C+L-band without waiting for the new development of transceivers by combining the already developed real-time transceivers and wavelength converters, we evaluated the characteristics of a wavelength converter composed of PPLN waveguides that convert wavelengths between the C and S bands for demonstration of WDM transmission in the S band. Post-FEC error-free transmission of real-time 400-Gb/s DP-16QAM signals in 64 channels WDM signal arranged in S-band at 75-GHz intervals in 80-km standard single-mode fiber was demonstrated by using a PPLN-based wavelength converter that achieves uniform and lossless conversion covering whole C-band. From the experimental results, it was verified that realization of capacity enhancement of multi-band WDM transmission system can be expected by applying the evaluated PPLN-based wavelength converter in combination with C+L-band WDM transmission system. |
