Design and Implementation of Network Protocol for Shape-Changeable Computer System

Abstract(in English) Shape-changeable computer system, in which a large number of computer chips arranged next to each other communicate wirelessly to form a system of various shapes, is proposed. In order to realize the shape-changeable computer system, it is essential to construct a chip-to-chip communication network. However, because of the unique physical layer of near-field inductive coupling between on-chip coils, the network protocol for efficient coordination of a large number of chips is not yet clear. In this paper, we propose an ad-hoc wireless network construction method based on a spanning tree, and implement it in C++, taking into account the characteristics of the physical layer of the shape-changeable computer system. The correct operation of the network protocol is verified in simulation and on actual prototype.
