[Invited Lecture] Spatial Signal Processing in Sub-Terahertz-Band Indoor Radio Communications

Abstract(in English) The sixth-generation (6G) mobile communication system has been studied to commercialize the service in around 2030. One of the requirements in 6G is extremely high-speed communication over 100 Gbps. A frequency range of 100-300 GHz, called a sub-Terahertz band, will be used to realize very wide band transmission. In addition to the broad bandwidth, we need spatial multiplexing signal processing using a hybrid MIMO system to achieve such a high data rate. The spectrum suffers from high attenuation in non-line-of-sight environments. Intelligent reflection surfaces (IRSs) are expected to be useful to improve the radio propagation. Signal processing techniques play an important role to adjust the IRS. On the other hand, it has been reported that the number of observed multipath components in a sub-Terahertz band is very few in indoor office environments. Such propagation environments are called sparse. In this talk, we address spatial-domain signal processing in the sparse sub-Terahertz band.
