Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | People often enjoy outdoor activities such as walking or running alone or with friends and family. However, geographical or physical reasons may make it difficult to do so. In response to this problem, there has been an attempt to improve activity sharing by using telepresence technology to transmit sensations to a remote location. In this study, we enhanced telepresence with wind sensation. Wind sensation has not been extensively studied in the past, because it is challenging to reproduce this outdoor sensation in VR. To transmit wind, it is necessary to record and reproduce wind speed and direction. In this paper, we first propose a method for recording and reproducing these two sensations. We report the results of an experiment in which we obtained the relationship between the control pulse frequency of a motor and wind speed to reproduce wind speed in a wind presentation display. The feasibility and prospects are also mentioned based on the results. |
