Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Tactile sensation presentation devices are often used in virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) because they can produce sensations of touch and force when interacting with virtual objects.Softness and hardness (hardness-softness) sensations are often represented as extremes in one dimension of material sensations as perceived by humans. Therefore, technological innovations have attempted to create tactile sensation presentation devices that can handle both softness and hardness. However, existing devices have the problem of a small stimulation area.In this study, we propose a tactile force presentation device that can provide both rigid and soft tactile sensations. The proposed device has a two-layered structure with a pneumatic balloon and a mechanical piston. We implemented a prototype device capable of presenting hardness and softness under the assumption that the device simulates contact with a 2-month-old kitten, and evaluated whether each module met the design requirements based on physical property measurements. As a result, it was confirmed that the outputs of softness and hardness presented by the device met the requirements. |
