Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Recently, Japanese major MNOs have occasionally been suffer from large-scale communication failures and it severely affected a large number of mobile users. To keep high connectivity for users, it is desirable to exploit highly reliable communication technologies, such as multi-path communication and roaming. Although there are various MVNOs (called VMNOs in 5G), no highly reliable communication services that simultaneously coordinate multiple MNOs have been proposed. Therefore, we propose a multi-carrier VMNO (M-VMNO) which exploits and coordinates wireless network infrastructures from multiple MNOs. In the M-VMNO, as well as providing a reliable communication service by switching MNOs to avoid network degradation and failure, high speed communication service is also available by aggregating MNOs. The M-VMNO enables us to collect various users' information at one side, and to provide the services with high precision. This paper firstly describes the architecture of the M-VMNO and its effect. Subsequently, we describe the relationship to connected vehicle service, which will be a prime application of the M-VMNO, and relevant results. Finally, we describe the measurement and analysis of the ``handover'' to verify the effect of M-VMNO. Handover, which with burst traffic can provoke a long communication cutoff, is one of the major factors to prevent stable communication for the connected services. |
