Test Evaluation of Underwater Acoustic Localization for Multiple Sound Sources by Time division and Code Division Multiplexing

Abstract(in English) Underwater acoustic localization is used to know underwater positions in remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) and autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). An ultra-short base-line (USBL) method measures a propagation time of sound wave from a transmitter to a receiver, where distance estimation and direction of arrival (DOA) estimation are performed. In this study, we investigate a method for simultaneous multipoint measurement using multiple sound source signals by time division and code division multiplexing, and report the test evaluation. In a highly reflective sound wave environment, time division and code division multiplexing shows higher positioning accuracy than conventional code division multiplexing.
