Abstract(in English) | Today, there are services on general-purpose servers with demanding latency requirements. For example, signal processing on general-purpose servers in virtualized Radio Access Network(vRAN) must meet latency requirements, which is conventionally met by dedicated hardware. In servers where such low latency is required, performance tuning is conductedat the expense of power savings, like limiting the C-state, which is a hardware power saving function of the CPU. Therefore, achieving low latency in energy-efficient way is an open problem. In this paper, we propose a C-state control method for a CPU core that performs latency-sensitive applications, which achieves energy efficiency. Our experiments show that our proposed method can achieve power saving while maintaining low latency, in a use case of frame forwarding in vRAN. |
