Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In recent years, mobile communication networks have become a social infrastructure due to the development of 5G, and large-scale congestion has occurred in 5G mobile cores. Communication failures of major telecommunications carriers have been reported as examples of problems caused by congestion in connection processing, but they occur in the control plane rather than the user plane that users can handle directly. In conventional transport networks, congestion avoidance and quality assurance by slicing the user plane have been considered. However, there are still few examples of tackling these problems with the control plane, which is prone to failures, so there is a problem that methods to solve them have not been established. In this research, we propose control plane slicing as a method for quality control on the control plane. Control plane slicing separates the resources for handling control signal traffic from UE and guarantees the communication quality of each UE. In this paper, as the first application example of the concept of control plane slicing, we propose priority control in AMF, where congestion is frequently observed in the mobile core, and implement and evaluate it in a local 5G environment, where custom functions can be introduced. As a result of the evaluation, the following statements are confirmed; with the proposed method, the average amount of queuing in the AMF is 12% of the default, which is a reduction of about 90%; the processing time of devices with high priority is about 15% shorter than that of devices with low priority; and the number of successfully connected terminals is about 1.38 times, which can be expected to increase by about 40%. Therefore, it is shown that our proposed method is effective for congestion reduction and quality control. Also, in this research, we are trying to implement the custom functions proposed in a local 5G environment, but we aim to lead to standardization proposals for next-generation communication in the future.
