Abstract(in English) | In recent years, damage to crops and injuries to humans by harmful birds and animals have increased in areas of Japan. Accordingly, to support the coexistence of humans and wildlife, technologies for observing the ecology of wildlife are attracting attention. In our previous study, we proposed a sensor network system that detects the existence of wild animals by analyzing images taken by a thermal camera for long-term monitoring of wildlife. This system realizes power saving by activating from the sensor with low power consumption to the sensor with high power consumption in stages. However, this method has a problem that the estimation accuracy is greatly reduced when the distance between the camera for taking the thermal image and the subject becomes large. Therefore, in this study, we propose a new sensor network system that detects the existence of wild animals by analyzing a 3D point cloud taken by a 3D LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) that can accurately measure the distance, position, and shape of the object. In addition, the proposed system is designed to be installed in mountainous areas where power supply is difficult. To reduce the power consumption of the entire system, the system is adopted to activate the 3D LiDAR only when a low-power radio beacon device detects a passing object. |
