Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) High-Altitude Platform Station (HAPS) is attracting much attention as a new mobile communications platform realizing ultra-wide coverage area and disaster-resilient networks. HAPS communication system is composed of service links which provide communications between HAPS and cellular phones and a feeder link which establishes a communication between HAPS and a base station (gateway). In the feeder link, the transceiver is expected to be used not only to link gateway stations but also for inter-HAPS communication and backhaul for aircraft. HAPS flies in a constant range over the airspace to maintain the service area, and so it is constantly moving and changing its attitude. Therefore, it is essential for the feeder link transceiver on HAPS to control the beam direction in order to maintain the link. In this paper, we report on the prototype development of a millimeter-wave band feeder link transceiver that controls the beam direction considering the positional relationship with the target and the attitude change of the HAPS. Furthermore, we report on the results of the transceiver in indoor and outdoor experiments.
