Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We discuss a frequency estimation algorithm for an incoming ultrasonic burst signal in order to determine the motion and position of a measurement target. Conventionally, frequency estimation by FFT has been mainly used. However, the error of the frequency estimation becomes large under the condition with the small number of received signal samples. In order to expand the detectable range or increase the number of detectable targets, a new frequency estimation method for burst signals, which properly operates under such a condition, is required. In this paper, we propose a novel frequency estimation method that estimates the frequency from the instantaneous value of ultrasonic signals by using three ultrasonic sensors with different frequency response characteristics. The effectiveness of the proposed method is also shown through numerical examples by using computer simulations.
