Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Visual evoked potentials (VEP) amplitudes are lower than EEG and artifacts, so the recorded data contain a mixture of VEP, EEG and artifacts. VEP are generally extracted using the additive averaging method. However, if EEG and artifacts in the recorded data are large, components other than VEP remain in the averaged waveform. In this study, we propose a preprocessing method to decompose the recorded data by empirical mode decomposition and to exclude the parts of the decomposed waveforms that are different from the temporal characteristics of VEP. To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method, we applied the proposed method to simulated and actual recorded data.
