Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Speech rate conversion is a useful technique for people who need assistance in listening comprehension and non-native speakers. In this study, we analyze the effects of "voice feedback" and "visual feedback," which are functions for the speaker to understand the time difference between the speaker and the listener caused by the speech rate conversion. We conducted a two-person conversation experiment using a map task and compared the rate of speech initiation during the Residual Utterance Listening Period (RUP), which is the waiting time for the speaker caused by the speech rate conversion. The results showed that the rate of speech initiation during the RUP was significantly higher with visual feedback than with voice feedback. The distribution of the length of utterances of the speakers was compared, and it was found that the length of utterances did not change depending on the feedback method used. |
