Abstract(in English) | Liquid crystal (LC) materials exhibit anisotropies regarding their electrical and optical properties. LCs combine the properties of solids and isotropic liquids and exhibit the electro-optical phenomenon. The LC molecules can be easily reoriented by an externally applied electric field. In this study, we propose an LC lens with transparent-multi-ring-electrodes and a highly-resistive film. The interference fringe images of the LC lens can be observed by a polarizing system under cross polarizers when an appropriate voltage is applied to each ring electrode. The optical phase profile such as a parabolic-shaped refractive-index-distribution can be obtained by measuring the interference fringes. The lens properties of the lead lines connected to each electrode and the improvement of response time will also be described. |
