Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In user-driven suboptimal joint transmit-receive diversity (JTRD), firstly the user equipment (UE) determines its diversity weight vector and then, the base station (BS) determines its diversity weight vector so as to maximize the resulting composite channel gain for the given UE diversity weight vector. While, the optimal JTRD jointly optimizes the diversity weight vectors at BS and UE by solving the eigen-equations composed of the correlation matrix of multi-input multi-output channel (MIMO channel). In principle, the user-driven suboptimal JTRD provides lower composite channel gain than the optimal JTRD. In this paper, the link capacity achievable with the user-driven suboptimal JTRD in a strong asymmetric MIMO fading channel, where the number of BS antennas is much larger than that of UE antennas, is numerically evaluated. It is shown that, in user-driven suboptimal JTRD, the selection diversity provides slightly higher link capacity than maximal-ratio diversity and that the link capacity gap between the user-driven suboptimal JTRD and the optimal JTRD becomes quite small. The selection diversity requires lower hardware and signal processing complexity than maximal-ratio diversity and thus, user-driven suboptimal JTRD with selection diversity can be considered practical.
