Abstract(in English) | Physical contact (PC) optical connectors maintain long-term stability by maintaining contact with the optical fiber even in the temperature fluctuations due to microscopic deformation of the ferrule endface. In the case of multicore fibers (MCFs), stable PC connection conditions need to be newly investigated because MCFs have cores other than the center. In order to clarify the PC connection conditions of standard O.D. 4-core MCF, finite element analysis of the microscopic deformation of the ferrule end-face is performed, and the results of composite temperature/humidity cyclic test are reported on samples fabricated with large fiber undercut. |
