Comparison of Performance Metrics of Sensor Networks Considering Freshness

Abstract(in English) For the evaluation of sensor networks, throughput, the amount of information collected, is not the only metric. The time elapsed between the generation and reception of information, i.e., the freshness of information, is another essential factor. Age of Information (AoI) has been widely studied as an evaluation metric that takes into account the freshness of information. On the other hand, a new performance metric, valueput, which considers both freshness and quantity of information, has been proposed in our research group. This study compares the evaluation results by these two metrics, i.e., AoI and valueput. Then, we clarify the properties of these two performance metrics.
