Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Some patients with developmental disabilities have problems with visual function that interfere with their daily lives. The visual function consists of three processes: (1) eye movements, in which the eyes catch objects and take in images; (2) visuospatial cognition, in which the eyes recognize what they see; and (3) eye-body teamwork, in which the body moves in response to what it sees. Vision training is designed to improve these visual functions, and the three processes can be trained. There are various types of training for each process. While some training can be easily done at home, such as tracing lines or moving the body by pictures, training for "eye movements" requires measurement of eye movements, making it essential to be accompanied by a specialist. However, considering time and cost, it is not easy to train continuously under the guidance of an expert. Therefore, in this study, we developed application software for eye movement for vision training using VIVE Pro Eye, a VR HMD with an eye-tracking function, which can be performed at home without any specialized knowledge to measure eye movements. In the future, we will make improvements based on questionnaires on the actual use of the application, as well as examine methods to verify the effectiveness of the training on actual visual functions.
