A Study of Quantum Computing-based Cluster-Layering Method in Distributed Antenna Networks

Abstract(in English) In distributed antenna networks, where a large number of antennas are deployed in a communication service area, distributed MIMO is effective in terms of avoiding interference and reducing computation. However, as the number of users in the area increases and accordingly, the cluster density increases, the impact of inter-cluster interference increases, causing SINR degradation, especially for users at the edge of clusters. Although time- or frequency-division communication of each cluster is considered to avoid inter-cluster interference, the resource allocation problem for a large number of clusters is expected to be a large-scale combinatorial optimization problem, which will be difficult to solve. In this paper, we propose a quantum annealing-based cluster-layering for scheduling each cluster. We formulate QUBO for cluster-layering based on cluster centroid information. We evaluate the user capacity, the sum capacity, and the fairness among users by computer simulation to show the effectiveness of cluster-layering for scheduling each cluster by quantum computing.
