Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The large number of patients with heat-related illness has been transported by ambulance every summer. Further increase of morbidity of heat-related illness is expected in near future due to the increasing frequency of heat wave and aging society. We have developed a thermodynamic computational code considering thermoregulatory response, and then applied to an estimation of heat-related morbidity. In this study, we provided the projection of heat-related morbidity. From our computational results, the number of people transported by ambulance from outdoor and indoor sites increased by 0.9 and 1.1 times, respectively. This indicates that the patients transported from the indoor is higher than those from the outdoor, suggesting that growing temperature affect more significantly the morbidity of heat-related illness from indoor in the elderly. The finding of this study would be useful for management of ambulance and medical resources as well as public enlightenment of heat-related illness.
