Abstract(in English) | Recently, classification of ground surfaces using Polarimetric Synthetic Aperture Radar (PolSAR) data has been expected in microwave remote sensing. Many scattering power decomposition techniques have been proposed such as the Y4R which improves the classification accuracy introducing polarimetric-basis rotation. However, there is still a problem that the volume scattering power component corresponding to vegetation/forest often appears in urban areas where buildings and roads are aligned inclined to the satellite. This paper examines the characteristics of volume scattering component in urban areas that are misclassified as vegetation, and propose a new volume scattering model for the urban area. Experimental study by using the PolSAR data for Niigata City acquired by Pi-SAR2-X is provided to show the validity of this analysis. |
