[Invited Lecture] Evolution of Radio Access Network Brought by AI/ML

Abstract(in English) In the complicated and diversified radio access networks (RANs) in 5G and beyond, artificial intelligence (AI)/machine learning (ML) is not only utilized to improve the automation and efficiency in higher layers such as operation and maintenance aspect, but also will play important role in further efficiency improvement and power saving by exploring AI/ML in Layer 1/Layer 2. In this lecture, we will introduce the trend in AI/ML application in RANs, and practices and use cases including intelligent beam management, efficient compression of channel state information, and QoS friendly power saving. In addition, the latest standardization status in 3GPP Rel.18 will be introduced.
