Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Due to the linearity of radio waves used in Beyond 5G systems, users may suffer from outages even near a base station. To cope with the issue, an intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) has been proposed. IRS can improve the received signal strength by reflecting beamforming emitted from a base station. Although the conventional works have studied joint optimization of beamforming and reflecting, the challenge of IRS deployment has not been studied yet. This paper, therefore, proposes methods to evaluate IRS performance with low complexity and to decide the location of IRS with IRS effect estimation models. We propose three effect estimation models, i.e., mathematical function, neural network, and convolutional neural network. Based on these effect estimation models, we decide on IRS location with k-means clustering that avoids overlap of IRS candidates. Through computer simulations with Wireless InSite, we show the characteristics of effect estimation models.
