Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) There is a high demand for understanding causal relationships among multiple factors in the social and natural sciences. To explore such causal relationships, experiments called randomized controlled trials (Randomized Controlled Trial, RCT) are sometimes conducted, which can be difficult to conduct from financial and ethical perspectives. \In such cases, methods have been proposed to perform statistical causal inference using only observational data without intervention, such as GES (Chickering, 2002), LiNGAM (Shimizu et al., 2006, Shimizu et al., 2011), NO TEARS (Zheng et al., 2018) are examples of them.\In this study, among them, for Direct LiNGAM (Shimizu et al., 2011), we introduced the idea of replacing a causal inference problem like NO TEARS with mathematical optimization and formulated the objective function of Direct LiNGAM. Furthermore, we improved the objective function in a way that solves the problems identified in the formulation. The results obtained by optimizing the objective function more rigorously outperformed those obtained by conventional Direct LiNGAM in terms of accuracy.
