Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper proposes that the expressionprivacy of the deceased” should be replaced by the expression “The violation of privacy of the people around someone who dies.” Three arguments are made to demonstrate the necessity of replacing the former expression. First, it argues that applying the concept of privacy to the deceased seems strange based on the metaphysics of death. Second, in actuality the word privacy is often used not only in reference to the deceased but to the people around the deceased. Third, it demonstrates that privacy loss often occurs to the people around somebody who dies. As a result, the concept of the privacy of the deceased” can be understood more easily only by focusing on the people around someone who dies.
