Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In the aging society, many fall accidents occur in various places, often leading to serious injury. Elderly people who have experienced fall accidents tend to refrain from walking for fear of falling. It is also known that it is better to be physically active as much as possible to maintain the health of the elderly. Therefore, prevention and early detection of fall accidents have become important as research tasks. Therefore, the authors have investigated methods for detecting the risk of falling by using data detected by IMU (inertial measuring unit) which are generally installed in smart devices. Focusing on the height of the foot and the stride length, we analyzed the relationship between the acceleration of the upper limbs and the gait, and clarified that the gait can be judged with high accuracy using machine learning. However, as a practical problem, the gait of the elderly differs from person to person, such as a gait that drags their legs or a gait that uses a cane. In this study, we suggest the analysis of the gait of each individual. We also suggest to use wireless transmission technique for gait monitoring.
