A Study on RSSI-Based Localization for Wideband Extremely Low Power Radio

Abstract(in English) Implant body area networks (BANs), which make a communication link inside and outside a human body, have attracted much attention. An example of implant BAN application is a wireless capsule endoscope. It is important to acquire the wireless capsule endoscope location for efficient diagnosis and accurate control. In this study, we paid attention to the regulation of extremely low power radio in order to improve the location estimation accuracy and the possible estimation. This study proposed a maximum likelihood estimation method based on received signal strength indicator (RSSI), which does not require synchronization between the transmitter and receiver. The experimental evaluation results demonstrated that the proposed method can expand the localization area with acceptable localization accuracy.
