Abstract(in English) | Vehicle to Everything (V2X), a wireless communication technology which enables vehicles to communicate with everything around road environment, is getting attention as a key enabler. A challenge for the widespread use of V2X lies in the increase in communication cost due to degradation of communication throughput in environments where communication resources are insufficient, such as in congested vehicle traffic. To address this challenge, we propose Mobile-network Expected Throughput-based Efficient Data Transfer (MET-EDT) which is an extension of Background Data Transfer specified in 3GPP. The proposed method is a form of Opportunistic Data Transfer that aims to improve the efficiency of packet forwarding. MET-EDT enables service providers to reflect communication suppression policy for specific regions and time periods in each car based on the expected communication throughput provided by mobile network. Results of a basic evaluation in a simulation environment showed that MET-EDT increased the throughput of V2X communication up to 5.10 times. |
