Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Self-bending of ultrasonic beams can be achieved by appropriately modulating the sound pressure distribution at the emitter surface. This study theoretically and experimentally investigated the effect of a self-bending airborne ultrasound beam based on the Airy function on the generation of secondary waves, especially parametric sound at the difference frequency. First, the effect of spatial modulation of the primary signal on the secondary wave generation is studied experimentally. Then, the sound pressure on the emitter was actually spatially modulated, and the realization of the bending beam of the primary wave and the characteristics of the difference frequency beam were experimentally investigated. The result indicated that the demodulated sound at difference frequency also showed an asymmetric distribution, corresponding to the spatial distribution of the self-bending primary ultrasound beam. However, the bending properties of demodulated sound were not realized as well as that of the primary sound.
