| Abstract(in English) | We report on technology trends in optical networking at OFC2022 (March 6-10, 2022), which was held in a hybrid on-site/virtual conference amid the continuing impact of COVID-19. Openness and the application of machine learning, which have been discussed for the past several years, remain active, and there were many efforts to lower margins by improving transmission quality estimation technology and to automate optical networks by the SDN controller using these QoT estimation technologies. In terms of capacity expansion, technologies on optical multi-band and spatial division multiplexing were mainly discussed. In terms of sensing technology, significant progress was reported in seismic detection over submarine cables. |
