| Abstract(in English) | The importance of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) evaluation for in-vehicle electronic devices used for noise suppression is increasing. The methods of electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage evaluation for common mode choke (CMC) and ESD suppression devices have been standardized as IEC 62228-5 Annex E and IEC 62228-5 Annex F, respectively. However, there is a concern about the reproducibility of the ESD damage test using the ESD gun described therein. Against this background, we investigated the possibility of replacing the ESD gun with transmission line pulser-human metal model (TLP-HMM) for ESD damage evaluation. As a result, there is not much correlation between them from the changes in the S-parameters before and after the damage test. Moreover, from the viewpoint of the evaluation standard achievement rate of the changes in the S-parameters before and after the damage test at each frequency, there are significant differences in $S_dd11$ of the ESD suppression device and $S_cd21$. This result suggests difficulty of replacing the ESD gun with TLP-HMM without ingenuity. |
