Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Aichi Prefecture has one of the most traffic accidents in Japanese prefectures. In this study, we found the significant factors of traffic accidents by analyzing the past traffic accident data provided by Aichi Prefectural Police. Previous studies have suggested that geospatial analysis effectively examines traffic accident countermeasures. Therefore, we focused on the spatial characteristics of the locations where accidents occurred. The outcome showed a pattern that head-on collisions concentrate at a single point of a strongly curved road. In other results, we extracted regions with similar trends in the characteristics of traffic accidents and found several areas with specific tendencies. Furthermore, we estimated the traffic volume in each location and obtained results suggesting a relationship between accidents during vehicle start-up and traffic congestion.
