Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, we propose a system that converts depth information with LIDAR into acoustic signals by PWM, and grasps space from the difference of the length and the loudness of the signal sound, targeting the assistance of the visually impaired. In addition, four types of acoustic signals are created to examine which acoustic signal is the best for spatial understanding. In addition, the system assigns a scale to each tone of the acoustic signal, so that the signal tone played in order can be heard as a melody (song). Finally, to confirm the usefulness of the system, we conducted an evaluation experiment and a usability study. As a result of the evaluation experiment, we were able to show the usefulness of the system with specific acoustic signals. The usability study also showed that the system succeeded in generating pleasant acoustic signals.
