Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In recent years, the rapid development and spread of drones has attracted attention in a variety of fields, military, agriculture, and entertainment. On the other hand, since anyone can easily get reasonable and high-performance drones, there are concerns that malicious people may use drones for crimes or terrorism. The realization of a system to detect, monitor, and capture such drones has become an important issue. Previously we have investigated drone detection using a millimeter-wave fast chirp modulation (FCM) radar, and have confirmed that the high range resolution enables to obtain the unique echoes which are effective in identifying drones. We have also confirmed that the micro-Doppler due to rotor rotation of drone can be obtained, and that the characteristics differ among different drone models. So far, we have examined the situation of one drone for the detection range of the radar, but it is expected that multiple drones will enter the detection range at the same time. Therefore, in this paper, we examined whether the locations (distance and arrival angle) of two drones within the detection range can be detected using a millimeter-wave FCM radar equipped with multiple transmission / reception antennas (MIMO). We also examined whether the above-mentioned unique echoes and micro-Doppler of each drone could be detected at the same time.
