Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Due to the new coronavirus epidemic that began in 2020, people have fewer opportunities to visit tourist spots and experience various things. As a result, people are spending more time at home, which reduces opportunities for physical activity and often leads to chronic inactivity. This can lead to obesity and loss of muscle mass, which can lead to lifestyle-related diseases. In addition to this, there is a concern that staying at home for long periods of time with little stimulation and little change in the environment may increase stress and lead to depression. To address this issue, we develop a virtual reality (VR) system that allows users to explore a remote sightseeing spot using omnidirectional video and seated motion. In this system, a panoramic viewer with omnidirectional video reproduces a highly realistic experience as if you were there. In addition, we attempt to overcome inactivity by using a seated exercise system that enables exercise in a small space such as a home. In addition, we attempt to relieve stress by having conversations with local staff and guides at the sightseeing spot while multiple people experience the system simultaneously via a network. In this study, we developed a system for a temple tour as one of sightseeing applications and conducted experiments with the participation of an actual priest.
