Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Diminished Reality (DR) is a technology that removes unwanted parts of an image in real time. This technology is based on the concept of subtraction, which is the exact opposite of Augmented Reality (AR), which adds virtual objects. One of conventional methods for diminished reality uses a color camera and estimates the camera pose and background shape by Visual-SLAM. The method then combines the background image obtained by image inpainting with the input image. Since this method requires a patterned texture that allows feature points to be extracted around the object to be removed, it was difficult to achieve the diminished reality in texture-less environments. In this study, we use a depth camera to obtain a dense shape regardless of the texture, and thus we can remove objects on a plane based on the planar assumption, relaxing the restriction of the surrounding texture. |
