Abstract(in English) | Combining 5G network slicing and novel satellite communications such as high-throughput satellite links and low earth orbit constellations is expected to realize extensive network slicing, including in rural areas. To realize network slicing over satellite links, we need to control the network traffic through each satellite. However, existing traffic controls to govern all of the satellites have difficulties in deployment and scalability. In this paper, we propose the delay and bandwidth control for satellite network slicing completed between ground stations. We can control both delay and bandwidth by using congestion control to keep the RTT constant with a system that exchanges RTT and transmission rate between middleboxes. Evaluation on a simulated satellite link shows that we can preserve delay and bandwidth between multiple middleboxes with variable link capacity and propagation delay. In particular, we show StarBundler can reduce the 95th percentile of RTT by 78% compared to the case without it. |
