Influence Evaluation of Element Elimination in phased arrays of Flat-top Beam for Microwave Power Transmission System for Micro-drone

Abstract(in English) Nowadays, drones have been attracting a lot of attention from industries. Short battery lifetime has been a major problem in facilitating drones application. Microwave power transmission is expected to play a major role to solve this problem. In this paper, we investigated two types of flat-top beams Normal Flat-top Beam where pencil beams were superimposed and Chebyshev Flat-top Beam where Dolph-Chebyshev beams were superimposed. Generally, flat-top beam includes elements excited by relatively low power. If excitation power is less than a certain level, those elements can be eliminated. In this study, it is investigated how much influence that element elimination has on flat-top beam characteristics and how much elimination should be tolerable from practical points of view. It concluded that element elimination with less than -15 dB threshold was tolerable in Normal Flat-top Beam while element elimination with less than -30 dB threshold was tolerable in Chebyshev Flat- top Beam.
