Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | The decline in cognitive function due to aging not only reduces the quality of life at home for the patient, but also places a heavy burden on family caregivers. To address this issue, we have developed ALPS, a system that supports people with dementia and the elderly who are forgetful by presenting information in voice. The system consists of a Raspberry Pi, a speaker, a motion sensor, and a pressure sensor, and operates based on rules managed in the form of ECA rules that determine when, where, and what kind of information is presented. In order to investigate the effectiveness and efficiency of the developed system, it is necessary to conduct experiments in general households, but due to the nature of the system, it will be deeply involved in the lives of the subjects. However, due to the nature of this system, it is deeply involved in the life of the subject. Therefore, in this paper, we will conduct a preliminary experiment for one week at the home of a doctor who is an expert in dementia to confirm the effectiveness of this system and to find out the problems. As a result, we obtained a good evaluation of the system in terms of effectiveness and efficiency, but it needs to be improved in terms of health risk avoidance and flexibility. We conclude that the system needs to improve its flexibility and risk-avoidance by acquiring the subject's responses and dynamically changing its support contents. |
