Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In order to realize excellent amenity and reliability, many small-sized DC motors are used in an automobile due to good cost-performance and energy efficiency. They have been recently needed more small-sized and higher power. To realize them motor rotation has to increase. At high rotation arc discharge easily occurs and brush wear is a severe problem. From results of the authors’ previous research, the arc erosion rate of brush and commutator was evaluated using a equivalent commutation testing machine. Further, the effect of arc quenching device (Zener diode) on arc duration and Obtaining reproducibility of basic data was made clear. In this study, the authors investigated the effect of types of graphite and Cu contents on brush wear, using eight trial products of Cu-graphite brush. In addition, the effect of a condensoron arc duration and brush wear was examined. As a result, it was clarified that natural graphite and copper content of 30% are better for brush materials, and that arc duration can be reduced to about 1/25 when arc quenching device, condensor is used.
