Development of meal support system for the visually impaired based on food recognition using image analysis

Abstract(in English) The purpose of this study is to develop a system to assist the visually impaired to eat alone. We devised an image analysis method for food recognition and a food and chopstick positioning system using a tactile display. We showed that it is possible to recognize the type and position of food by image analysis using deep learning and developed a tactile display to guide chopsticks to the position of food for visually impaired people based on the recognition results.
