A Study on Personalization of the Head-Related Transfer Function in the Median Plane by Modifying the Notch Frequency

Abstract(in English) In order to enable highly accurate 3D sound image control, various researches have been conducted to obtain a Head-Related Transfer Function(HRTF) suitable for a listener from databases. One of them is that the two lowest spectral notches (N1 and N2) of the HRTF are important as cues for the perception of the ascending angle in the median plane, and amethod to select HRTF data with N1 and N2 frequencies suitable for the listener from a database is proposed. A method of estimating the HRTF using Radial Basis Function-Neural Networks has also been proposed as a method of obtaining the HRTF for each listener. However, this method does not focus on the N1 and N2 frequencies in the median plane. Therefore, in this study, based on the results of HRTF estimation using Radial Basis Function-Neural Network, we verify whether the estimation accuracy in the median plane can be improved by correcting the positions of N1 and N2 frequencies.
